Echo Hub Setup Isn't Working
Troubleshooting tips to resolve some of the most common setup issues.
Ensure that the device has enough power to start.
- We recommend that you use the power adapter and cable that came with your Echo Hub. If you use a different adapter, make sure it supports device power requirements. Echo Hub power supply must comply with USB PD protocol and support both 5V/2.4A and 9V/3A ratings.
- If you're using Power Over Ethernet (PoE), the Echo Hub can't connect directly to the Ethernet router. PoE also requires a PoE injector and PoE network switch to provide both power and data.
Ensure that your Echo Hub and your smart devices have good Wi-Fi available.
- Try the tips in Echo Device Is Having Wi-Fi Issues.
- If some devices can't connect with the Echo Hub, try Checking Wi-Fi Connectivity on Smart Home Devices.
- If you have connection issues with multiple devices, contact your internet service provider.
If some of your smart devices don't appear in the Echo Hub dashboard:
- Make sure that the devices and your Echo Hub are in the same Alexa account. Check this in your Alexa app.
- Check that your smart device is compatible with Alexa. Use the manufacturer's app to connect the device to Alexa. If using the device with Alexa requires an Alexa skill, make sure you've installed the skill from the Alexa app, and finished linking the account.
- Confirm in the Alexa app which Alexa Smart Home Group the devices belong to.
- Make sure that your smart devices connect to Wi-Fi or a smart home hub, if they require it.
- To appear in the dashboard, Echo Show devices must have Home Monitoring turned on. Learn how to Set Up Your Echo Show for Home Monitoring.
- Some device types or scenes that appear in your Alexa app, but not in the dashboard, may not yet have dashboard tiles. You can control such devices by voice or when they're part of a routine, and receive announcements for them.
If these steps don't resolve the problem, try restarting your Echo Hub. Press and hold the Mute button until the device restarts. Or, you can unplug its power adapter for 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
If a device restart doesn't work, reset the device to factory settings. Learn how to Reset Your Echo Hub.
