Connect Smart Home Devices to Alexa
To control Alexa-compatible smart home devices like smart bulbs, and smart plugs, thermostats, or cameras with your voice, connect them to Alexa.
Note: Certain devices may automatically connect to Alexa using Amazon's Frustration-Free Setup technology. To confirm if your device already connected to Alexa, check
Devices in the Alexa app. If you see your device, then it already connected to Alexa and it’s ready to use.
Make sure that your smart home device is compatible with Alexa. Devices that have a "Works with Alexa" badge are certified to work with Alexa.
Third-party smart home devices that use Wi-Fi and aren't Matter certified can only connect to Alexa through a smart home skill. Complete set up for your device using the manufacturer's app or website first. Then activate the skill in the Alexa app as needed.
Tip: Smart home Wi-Fi devices work on 2.4 GHz bands.
