Basic Requirements
To start, have the following parts, accessories, and information ready:
- The Fire TV 2-Series or Fire TV 4-Series TV and in-box accessories
- Alexa Voice Remote, power cord, AAA batteries for the remote, 2 TV stand legs, and 4 TV stand screws
- An Amazon account, including your email address or phone number and password
- An internet connection, including your Wi-Fi name and password
- Philips screwdriver and scissors
- TV wall mounts (sold separately) if you decide to mount the TV on a wall
Unpack Your TV
To unpack your TV:
- Carefully unpack the TV and all included accessories from the box. Make sure you remove all parts and accessories before disposing of the box.
- Lay your Fire TV on a flat surface with the plastic wrap still on the TV.
- Cut the plastic wrap off of the TV.
Install Your TV
- The installation process requires two people.
- Make sure your TV is powered off before installation. Installing while your TV is on may put you at risk of electric shock.
- Make sure to place your TV on a stable surface. An unstable location risks your TV sliding or falling, potentially causing serious injury or damage.
To install the TV stand:
- Screw both TV stand legs into the bottom of the TV. The legs are interchangeable and can be installed on either side.
To mount your Fire TV on the wall:
- Check that the wall can support the weight of the TV set and wall mount assembly.
- Compatible VESA wall mount patterns:
- Fire TV 2-Series (32”, 40”): 100 mm (w) x 100 mm (h)
- Fire TV 4-Series (43", 50", 55"): 300 mm (w) x 300 mm (h)
- Compatible screws: Type M6, 12 mm length
- Follow the mounting instructions provided with the wall mount.
Note: Follow the mounting instructions exactly as provided. This will help you avoid any damage or serious injury during the mounting process.
- Make sure to install the TV on a vertical wall.
- Only use screws that are suitable for the wall's material.
- Make sure no one can trip over the TV cables.
Follow these tips to place your TV:
- Don't place your TV on an unstable surface.
- Place your TV somewhere that allows good ventilation.
- Don't use your TV near damp or cold areas.
- Keep your TV away from direct sunlight to protect the TV from overheating.
- Keep liquids and liquid-filled containers away from your TV.
Control Buttons and Ports
The Fire TV 2-Series and Fire TV 4-Series TV has the following buttons, indicators and ports located on the front and back of the device.
On the front of the device:
- Power button (bottom of the TV)
On the back of the device:
- Power port
- 4 VESA mount holes and preinstalled screws
- Optical audio output (S/PDIF) port
- Ethernet port
- USB-A ports
- Antenna/Cable port
- HDMI 2.1 eARC port
- HDMI 2.0 port
- Fire TV 2-Series has one HDMI 2.0 port
- Fire TV 4-Series has three HDMI 2.0 ports
- IR Emitter port
- Audio out/headphone port
How to Set Up Your Device
- Put the batteries into the remote.
- Plug in the power cord first into your TV’s power (AC-in) port, and then plug the other end into a power outlet.
Note: If the power cord is damaged, don't connect it to an outlet, as there is a risk of electric shock.
- (Optional) Connect an external antenna to your TV's antenna port to watch broadcast TV.
- Press the Power button on your remote or your TV.
- Your Fire TV remote should already be paired with your Fire TV.
Note: If your remote doesn't pair automatically, press the Home
button until "Press
to start" appears on-screen (about 10 seconds).
- If connecting to a Wi-Fi network, choose one of the options:
- Use your mobile phone to scan the on-screen QR code to automatically set up Wi-Fi connection.
- Use your Fire TV remote and follow on-screen instructions to manually set up Wi-Fi connection.
- If connecting to a router or modem:
- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable (sold separately) to your Fire TV.
- Connect the other end to your modem or router.
- To sign-in or sign up with your Amazon account, choose one of these options:
- Scan the on-screen QR code with your mobile phone.
- Visit the on-screen web address (amazon.co.uk/code) and enter the activation code shown on your screen.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup.
Remote Overview
Your device comes with a remote that you can use to navigate your Fire TV. Use the playback buttons to play, pause, rewind, or fast forward video content. Use the Alexa button for voice commands. You can also use the preset app buttons at the bottom of the remote to quickly navigate and select apps.
To insert batteries, turn your remote upside down and place your thumbs on the back cover. Press the arrow firmly to release the latch, and slide the cover down.
Troubleshoot Setup Issues
If setting up your device doesn't go as expected, try the following suggestions:
- If you get a login error or have forgotten your Amazon account password, you can reset your password. Go to the Forgot Your Password page.
- If your remote doesn't pair automatically, press the Home button
until "Press
