Volume or Power Controls Not Working in Fire TV App

Try these steps if the volume or power controls in your Fire TV app aren’t working.

Note:

• Not all TVs support the CEC protocol required to use this feature.
• This feature isn’t available for all Fire TV devices. If your Fire TV supports this feature, your Fire TV app displays the option to set up volume and power controls.

If you can’t use the volume or power controls in your Fire TV app, try the following:

1. Turn on HDMI CEC in your TV’s settings.

2. Check if you can change the TV's volume or power with your Fire TV remote. If you can't, follow the instructions in Volume, Power, or Mute Buttons Not Working on Fire TV Remote.
3. If you use an external speaker, check if you can change the speaker's volume or power with your Fire TV remote. If you can’t, set up equipment control for your speaker under Settings > Equipment Control on your Fire TV.

If the problem continues after turning on CEC, your TV may not support the required CEC protocol.
