Manage the HDMI ARC or HDMI CEC Setting on Your TV
Follow these steps to turn on the HDMI ARC or HDMI CEC setting on some common TV brands.
Turning on HDMI ARC or HDMI CEC is different for every TV brand. These steps are general guidelines for some common TV brands. The steps may vary from model to model or may change when TV software is updated.
If your TV brand isn't listed or the steps don't match, check your TV's user manual or online support pages for more information.

Samsung
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Home button on your Samsung remote.
- Go to Settings on your device.
- Select System.
- Select Expert Settings.
- Select Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).
- Select On.
Some TVs may use the following steps for HDMI CEC:
- Press the Home button on your Samsung remote.
- Go to Settings on your device.
- Select General.
- Select External Device Manager.
- Select Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC).
- Select On.
HDMI ARC:
ARC is turned on automatically on Samsung TVs when Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) is on.
LG
HDMI CEC:
- Go to the settings menu. Press and hold the Settings button on your LG remote for 5 seconds.
- Select All Settings.
- Select General.
- Select SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC).
- Set SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) to On.
HDMI ARC:
- Go to the settings menu. Press and hold the Settings button on your LG remote for 5 seconds.
- Select All Settings.
- Select Sound.
- Select Sound Out.
- Select Audio Out (Optical/HDMI ARC).
- Set Digital Sound Out to Auto.
Sony
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Home button on your Sony remote.
- Select Settings.
- Press OK.
- Select Watching TV.
- Select External inputs.
- Select BRAVIA Sync settings.
- Turn on BRAVIA Sync control.
HDMI ARC:
- Press the Home button on your Sony remote.
- Select Settings.
- Press OK.
- Select Display & Sound.
- Select Audio output.
- Set eARC mode to Auto.
Sharp
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Menu button on your Sharp TV remote.
- Select System Options.
- Select AQUOS Link Setup.
- Set AQUOS Link Control to On.
HDMI ARC:
- Press the Menu button on your Sharp TV remote.
- Select System Options.
- Select AQUOS Link Setup.
- Set Audio Return Channel to Auto.
Toshiba
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Menu button on your Toshiba TV remote.
- Select Settings.
- Select System.
- Select HDMI & CEC Functions.
- Set CEC Control to On and detect the connected HDMI device.
HDMI ARC:
- Press the Menu button on your Toshiba TV remote.
- Select Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Sounds.
- Select Speakers.
- Set Audio output to ARC.
Hitachi
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Menu button on your Hitachi remote.
- Go to Setup.
- Select HDMI-CEC.
- Select On.
HDMI ARC:
- Press the Menu button on your Hitachi remote.
- Go to Setup.
- Select ARC.
- Select On.
Panasonic
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Menu button on your Panasonic remote.
- Select Setup from the menu options.
- Select HDMI Control.
- Select CEC Function
- Select On.
HDMI ARC:
- Press the Menu button on your Panasonic remote.
- Select Setup from the menu options.
- Select VIERA Link.
- Select On.
Phillips
HDMI CEC:
- Press the Home button on your Phillips remote.
- Go to Setup and then select TV Settings.
- Select Installation.
- Select Preferences.
- Select EasyLink and set the following:
- EasyLink: On
- Master EasyLink: On
- Auto: On
- RC Key Forwarding: On
HDMI ARC:
- Press the Home button on your Phillips remote.
- Go to Setup and then select TV Settings.
- Select Installation.
- Select Preferences.
- Select EasyLink.
- Set HDMI-ARC to On.
Roku TV ™
HDMI CEC
- Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
- Select Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Control other devices (CEC) and turn on the following:
- System audio control
- 1-touch play
HDMI ARC
- Press the Home button on your Roku remote.
- Select Settings.
- Select System.
- Select Control other devices (CEC) and turn on ARC.
Vizio
HDMI CEC
- Press the Menu button on your Vizio remote.
- Select System.
- Select CEC and turn on CEC Function.
HDMI ARC
- Press the Menu button on your Vizio remote.
- Select System.
- Select CEC and turn on the CEC Function.
- Set System Audio Control to On.
- Select Device Discovery and wait for your TV to discover your Roku device.
