How to Set Up Your Device

Tip: Before setup, download the Alex app from your mobile device's app store.
To set up your device:
  1. Plug in your Echo Dot Max device with the included power adapter.
  2. On your mobile device, open the Alexa app .
  3. Select Devices .
  4. Select Plus .
  5. Select Add Device.
  6. Select Amazon Echo.
  7. Select Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Pop and more.
  8. Follow the instructions to set up your device.

Privacy and Support

To enable or disable your device's microphone, press the Microphones enable/disable button. A red light on the button means that the microphone is disabled. To turn your device's microphones on or off, press the button.

A blue light on the device means that Alexa is listening and processing your request in Amazon's secure cloud.

Troubleshooting Set Up Issues

If setting up your device doesn't go as expected, try these suggestions:
