Basic Requirements
To start, have the following parts, accessories, and information ready:
- Your Echo Show 21 and in-box accessories:
- Alexa Voice Remote, power adapter with cable wrap, AAA batteries for the remote, wall mount, 4 screws and 4 anchors.
- An Amazon account, including your email address or phone number and password.
- An internet connection, including your Wi-Fi name and password.
- If you plan to mount your device on the wall: Electric drill with 5/16" (8mm) drill bit and #2 driver bit, level or level app, hammer, and wall-safe tape.

To set up your device:
- Plug in your Echo Show with the included power adapter.
- Select a device language.
- Connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Log in to your Amazon account.
- Continue following the on-screen steps to set up and customize your device.
When you see the Alexa home screen and clock, your device is ready to use.
Remote Overview
Your device comes with a remote that you can use to browse and play Fire TV content on your Echo Show 21. Press the Home button on the remote to enter the Fire TV experience. Use the playback buttons to play, pause, rewind, or fast forward video content or the Alexa button for voice commands. Use the preset app buttons at the bottom of the remote to navigate quickly to select apps.
To insert batteries, turn your remote upside down and place your thumbs on the back cover. Press firmly and slide the cover down. For best performance, alkaline batteries are recommended.

Privacy and Support
Turn off the Echo Show 21 device microphones by pressing the Microphones off
button on top of the device.
A blue indicator light on the device screen means that Alexa is listening and processing your request in Amazon's secure cloud.

Troubleshoot Setup Issues
If setting up your device doesn't go as expected, here are some suggestions:
- If you get a login error or have forgotten your Amazon account password, you can reset your password. Go to Forgot Your Password.

- If you're having issues with your Wi-Fi password, contact your internet service provider.
- If your Echo device is highlighting on-screen items or reading them out loud when you select them, the VoiceView Screen Reader may be on. To turn off VoiceView you can say, "Turn off VoiceView," or:
- Press and hold the Microphones/Camera
button until there is a sound. - Let go of the Microphones/Camera
button. - Use a single finger to double tap the screen and hold for five seconds.
- Press and hold the Microphones/Camera
