Fix Issues with Your Notes on Kindle Scribe
Solve common issues with creating a new sticky note, sticky note or active canvas icon missing from toolbar, note not saved, can't view note or note updates, note won't open or is frozen, note gets added at the wrong place, accidentally deleted notes, writing without a pen.
Note: If you have two or more Kindle Scribe devices, make sure to have the latest software version installed on both to be able to see active canvases, sticky notes, and expandable margins.
- Make sure that you have selected the sticky note tool in the writing toolbar
- Make sure that there isn’t already another sticky note or active canvas at the same location where you’re trying to create a new one
- Make sure that you're not adding your sticky note on top of an image or on the margin
- Unhide the writing toolbar using the 3-dot menu on the top navigation bar
- Make sure that the content type that you're annotating supports adding sticky notes, expandable amrgins, or active canvases
- Check that your note isn’t blank before closing it. Blank sticky notes don’t get saved.
- Make sure to select the checkmark after you finish your canvas note in the translucent box
- Flip the page back and forth and check again if the note has been saved
- Close and reopen the sticky note
- Close and reopen the book or document
- Try inserting a new note at a different place or document
- Press the power button to put the device to sleep and press it again to reawaken the device
- If you’re unable to find a note you inserted in the All notes view page, make sure that the note that you’re searching for is present on that specific book or document
- Close the All notes view page and open it again
- Sync your device tapping the Sync option in the Quick Actions menu
- If you used a second Kindle Scribe to insert notes in your content, make sure that the device had internet connection. Then sync both devices by tapping the Sync option in the Quick Actions menu.
- You can't recover deleted notes. Recreate the note in the same place where you had your previous note.
- If you lose your stylus pen, you can still tap to insert sticky notes and type in them on content types that support sticky notes. Kindle Scribe only supports handwriting with a stylus pen at this time.
- On the Kindle app, you can view any highlights or sticky notes you created in books on your device. You can't view underlines or Active Canvas notes on the Kindle app.
