How to Set Up Alexa Voice Remote (2024 Release)
Pair your Alexa Voice Remote with your Fire TV to easily control your streaming experience.

Basic Requirements
To start, have the following devices, parts and accessories ready:
- A compatible Fire TV device connected to your TV, or a compatible Fire TV Smart TV
- Original Fire TV Remote (if applicable)
- Alexa Voice Remote (2024 Release)
- Two AAA batteries
How to Set Up Your New Remote with Your Original Remote
- Insert the included batteries into the Alexa Voice Remote (2024 Release).
Tip: To insert the batteries, turn your remote upside down and place your thumb on the arrow of the back cover. Press the arrow firmly to release the latch, and slide the cover down.
- Press the Home button
on your original remote.
- Go to Settings
on your Fire TV device.
- Select Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.
- Select Amazon Fire TV Remotes.
- Select Add New Remote.
- Your Alexa Voice Remote (2024 Release) appears in the list when it successfully pairs.
How to Set Up Your New Remote without Your Original Remote
- Restart your Fire TV device by unplugging it from power.
- Plug in your Fire TV device and wait until "Cannot detect your remote" appears on-screen.
- Insert the included batteries into the Alexa Voice Remote (2024 Release).

- Your Alexa Voice Remote (2024 Release) should pair with your Fire TV device.
Note: If it doesn't pair, press and hold the Home button
for 10 seconds.
Remote Overview
Use the playback buttons to play, pause, rewind, or fast forward video content. Use the Alexa Voice button for voice commands. You can also use the preset app buttons at the bottom of the remote to navigate quickly to select apps.

Troubleshoot Setup Issues
If your remote doesn't connect, or doesn't work, try the following:
- Remove and reinsert its batteries.
- Replace the batteries in your remote.
Note: Always replace dead batteries with new 1.5V alkaline or 1.2V NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries.
- Move your remote closer to your Fire TV device, within 10 feet (3 m).
- If your remote doesn't pair automatically, press the Home button
until "Press
to start" appears on-screen (about 10 seconds).
- If you have seven controllers paired, remove one of them before attempting to pair another.
- Use the Fire TV app
to pair your remote. Download the Fire TV app on your mobile device and follow the steps in Use the Fire TV App to Pair Your Remote.
- Reset Your Fire TV Remote and then try pairing it again.
