About Food Ordering with Alexa+

Alexa's food ordering feature lets you order food with third-party services. You can order food from your favorite places using Alexa-supported devices.

Note: Not all features and services will be available at once. New features will roll out across compatible devices during the Early Access period. For more information on available features and supported devices go to: Alexa+

For steps on linking third-party accounts, managing permissions, or to learn more about the service, go to: Connect Your Third-Party Services to Alexa+

To start, say something like, "What can I get delivered for dinner tonight?" Alexa guides you through the ordering process, by helping choose a restaurant, adding or removing items from your cart, modifying items, and checking out.

While ordering, you may be able to add special instructions like requesting the removal of certain ingredients or providing any dietary needs.

Note: The option to customize orders is determined by the restaurant.

Alexa can answer questions, make adjustments, or take you to checkout. For example, just say:

  • "I'd like to remove an item."
  • "I'd like to add special instructions to an item in my cart."
  • "I'm ready to checkout."

You can manage your order by voice or on-screen options.

You can review your cart and say checkout. When you say "checkout" or select the checkout button, you'll be taken to the checkout summary screen where you can review your delivery address and payment method used.

Note: After placing the order, you need to contact the third-party service to cancel. Alexa can't cancel orders. If you have a question about an order that has been completed, you have to contact the third party directly. For more information on when to contact the third-party service go to, How Third-Party Services Work with Alexa+

Once your place your order with Alexa, you receive a notification from your chosen third-party provider. Alexa will also notify you about your order status. For example, you can ask "where is my Grubhub order."

You can also ask Alexa to reorder past favorites, including the special requests you had.
