About Microsoft OneNote Connections
1. What can I do with Microsoft OneNote on my Kindle Scribe?
You can send a copy of your Kindle Scribe notebooks to Microsoft OneNote as:
- Images of your handwritten notes.
- Text (converts your handwriting to typed text).
- Both images and text side by side.
Your notebooks appear in a new Microsoft OneNote notebook called "Kindle Scribe," with each exported Kindle notebook as its own section.
Getting Started with Microsoft OneNote
2. How do I connect to my Microsoft OneNote account?
You can import:
- On your Kindle Scribe, find the connections icon
next to the Search bar on Home, Library, or Workspace tabs (Alternatively: Go to Settings > Connections). - From the drop-down menu, tap "Add connections."
- Select the cloud service you want to connect and tap “Connect.”
- Your Kindle Scribe will present a QR code.
- Use your phone to scan the QR code (Alternatively: Type the web address on any separate device).
- Sign in with your Amazon account (must match the account on your Kindle Scribe).
- Enter the 6-digit code if asked.
- Follow the steps on your phone or separate device to finish connecting.
3. How do I solve an “account mismatch” error?
Make sure you're using the same Amazon account that's registered to your Kindle Scribe. If you are not using the same Amazon account, you will need to sign out of the account on your phone or desktop browser and restart the connection.
To check your Kindle Scribe account:
- On the Kindle Scribe, go to Settings > Your Account to view the registered user.
- Check the Connections popup for the registered email or phone number (above the QR code).
- Visit Manage Your Content and Devices to check which devices are registered to your account.
4. I'm having trouble with two-factor authentication during Microsoft to sign in. What should I do?

Access to your workplace Microsoft OneNote account depends on your company's security settings. Check with your IT team to see if you can connect to your company account.
Sending Scribe notebooks to Microsoft OneNote
6. How do I send notebooks to Microsoft OneNote?
You have two options:
- From inside a notebook:
- Tap the share icon
(top right). - Choose Microsoft OneNote.
- Select delivery format: image, text, or both.
- Tap the share icon
- From Workspace:
- Tap the 3-dot menu on a downloaded notebook.
- Select "Share."
- Choose Microsoft OneNote.
- Select delivery format: image, text, or both.
7. Where do my notebooks appear in Microsoft OneNote?
Your Kindle Scribe exports are saved to a Microsoft OneNote notebook called "Kindle Scribe,"with each exported Kindle notebook appearing as its own section.
To find your Microsoft OneNote file, you can:
- Open the Microsoft OneNote desktop or mobile app, navigate to your notebooks menu, and expand the list to find the “Kindle Scribe" notebook.
- Check your Microsoft OneNote account under My Files > Documents. For M365 Business accounts, check My Files > Notebooks.
- Use the search function to find the "Kindle Scribe" OneNote file.
8. Can’t find your notebook?
If you still cannot find the notebook, check the email address linked to your Amazon account for any error messages. You can also visit Microsoft’s OneNote support page for additional help locating your files: Find OneNote notes, pages or tabs.
9. Can I export the same Scribe notebook multiple times?
- Yes, each exported Scribe notebook creates a new page in the corresponding Microsoft OneNote section. It doesn’t overwrite any previous exports from Scribe.
- Pages are timestamped so you can track different versions.
Managing Microsoft OneNote Files
10. Can I edit my notebooks in Microsoft OneNote?
Yes, you can:
- Edit any converted text.
- Write on the exported notebook images.
- Make other changes using Microsoft OneNote's features.
11. Can I rename my Microsoft OneNote files?
Yes. In the Microsoft OneNote application, you can:
- Rename the "Kindle Scribe" notebook.
- Rename any section.
- Keep sending notebooks to renamed sections.
Your changes won't affect:
- Future notebook transfers.
- The connection between Kindle Scribe and Microsoft OneNote.
- The names of your Kindle Scribe notebooks.
12. Can I rename a Kindle Scribe notebook after exporting?
Yes. Future exports of that notebook will still go to the existing Microsoft OneNote section.
13. What if I delete the main "Kindle Scribe" notebook in Microsoft OneNote?
- Your connection stays active.
- Future transfers create a new Microsoft OneNote notebook.
14. What if I delete a section in OneNote?
- Future transfers of that Kindle Scribe notebook create a new section.
- Your Kindle Scribe notebook isn't affected.
15. Can I password protect my Microsoft OneNote sections?
Yes, but with some limitations:
- We can't send new content to password-protected sections.
- Future transfers of that notebook will create a new, unprotected section.
Managing Your Account
16. Can I connect multiple Kindle Scribe devices to the same Microsoft OneNote account?
Yes. Each Kindle Scribe creates its own notebook in Microsoft OneNote (for example, “Kindle Scribe” or "Kindle Scribe 1").
17. How do I disconnect Microsoft OneNote?
You have several options:
- On your Scribe: Go to Settings > Connections.
- On the web: Visit (https://www.amazon.co.uk/kindle/connections).
- Through Microsoft’s account settings website.
18. What happens to my cloud account information when I disconnect?
We only keep your information while the connection is active. When you disconnect, we delete all account information from Microsoft OneNote. Your previous Microsoft OneNote exports from Kindle Scribe will remain saved in your Microsoft account.
19. What happens if I reset or deregister my Kindle Scribe?
- Your Microsoft OneNote connection is removed.
- The Microsoft OneNote export option from your Kindle Scribe is removed.
- Your cloud account information is deleted from our systems.
20. How do we protect your information?
Your security and privacy are important to us.
- We encrypt your information while it’s stored on your device, on the cloud, and during file transfers.
- We never share your cloud storage data with third parties.
