Alexa Doesn’t Recognize You on Your Echo Show

Alexa isn't recognizing your Visual ID or members of your household's Visual ID on Echo Show.

  • Make sure that you're enrolled in Visual ID.
  • Check to make sure that your camera is enabled or the shutter is open. Your camera must be enabled for Alexa to recognize you.
  • If you press the Microphones & Camera Enable/Disable button to temporarily disable the camera and microphones or close the camera shutter, Alexa won't recognize you.
  • Make sure that Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • Make sure that your Echo Show camera can see your face. Sideways angles or obstructed views makes it difficult for Alexa to recognize you.
  • If your room is too dark, Alexa won't recognize you. Make sure that there's enough lighting.
  • If your appearance changes after you create a Visual ID, Alexa might not recognize you. Try deleting your Visual ID and creating a new Visual ID.

If these troubleshooting steps don't work, delete your Visual ID and enroll again.
