Kindle for PC Accessibility Features

Kindle for PC (1.19.1 and above) supports NVDA 2017.1 or higher and JAWS screen reader on Windows computers.

The Kindle for PC accessibility features provide the following functions:

  • You can read aloud over 6 million titles in English and most titles available in other languages in the Kindle Store using screen reader technology.
  • Navigate within your library or within a book, with consistent title, menu and button names.
  • Read character-by-character, word-by-word, or continuously, as well as move forward or backward in the text.
  • Search for a book within your library or search within your book and navigate to specific locations.
  • Customize the reading experience including changing the font, text size, background color, margin, and brightness.

The Kindle Store identifies supported content by major screen readers with the text Screen Reader: Supported on the product detail pages. This indicates that the book is compatible with many popular screen readers: VoiceView on Fire Tablets and Kindle E-readers, VoiceOver on iOS, TalkBack on Android, and NVDA on Windows. Functionality may vary across titles and screen readers.
