Import PDF supported personal documents from your PC.

Important: The Legacy Kindle app (previously called Kindle for PC) isn't supported as of June 30, 2026. To download the new Kindle for Windows app, go to Install or Update the Kindle App for Desktop.
  1. In the Kindle for Windows app left menu, select Library, then select Import.
  2. From the screen that pops up, find the document that you wish to upload.
Remember: Supported file types are PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, RTF, HTM, HTML, PNG, GIF, JPG, JPEG, BMP, and EPUB.
  3. Import the personal document by selecting Open, then follow the prompts.
Tip: Alternatively, you can drag and drop files into your Kindle for Windows app library.
  4. Sync your library to view your imported content. Your Kindle library may take a few moments to show the imported documents.
