Turn Adaptive Content On or Off

Adaptive Content improves the home screen content on your Echo devices with a screen depending on your distance from the device. Use your device settings to turn Adaptive Content on or off.

Adaptive Content is an optional setting, and is turned on by default.

To turn Adaptive Content on or off:

  1. Select Display & Appearance.
  2. Select Adaptive Content.
  3. Use the switch to turn Adaptive Content on or off. When it's turned off, you can choose the default setting on your device to be Detailed (for near viewing) or Minimal (for far viewing).

Your device won't support Adaptive Content if you disable the camera, close the camera's shutter, or press the Microphones & Camera Enable/Disable .

You can use the camera shutter and/or the Microphones & Camera Enable/Disable button to temporarily turn off Adaptive Content.

Note: Adaptive Content continues to work on the following devices with the camera disabled through Presence Detection:
  • Echo Show 8 (2025 release)
  • Echo Show 11 (2025 release)
