What Is Adaptive Content?
Adaptive Content changes what you see on your Echo device depending on your distance from the device.
Adaptive Content on your Echo Show device uses proximity, and in some cases visual engagement to adjust the on-screen display.
Adaptive Content doesn’t identify people. Images are processed on your device and never sent to the cloud.
Adaptive Content is an optional setting and is turned on by default. For steps to turn it on or off, go to Turn Adaptive Content On or Off.
Your device won't support Adaptive Content if you disable the camera, close the camera's shutter, or press the Microphones & Camera Enable/Disable
button.
You can use the camera shutter or the Microphones & Camera Enable/Disable
button to temporarily turn off Adaptive Content.
How Adaptive Content Works
Adaptive Content adjusts what's shown on your Echo device with a screen based on how close you are to the device. When you're nearby, the display shows more detailed content. When you're farther away, it switches to a simpler view that's easier to see from a distance.
On supported devices with visual engagement, content adjusts based on whether you are in view of the camera and facing the screen. The display shows partial or full widget views, then returns to the rotating home screen cards after a period of time.
