Move Audio Playback to Different Echo Devices with a Screen
Use your Echo device with a screen to select which devices play your music or podcasts.
When you're playing audio on your Alexa devices, you can use Echo Show to assign or move streams to particular devices or rooms. You can move a podcast from your Echo Show to the office Echo Dot. Or, move music from the dining room Echo to the living room speaker group.
Note: Settings menu items for
the Echo Hub and Echo Show 5 (all generations) may vary, and those devices will receive a software update soon.
To move audio playback between devices:
- On your Echo Show, swipe down from the top edge of the screen and select Active Media
.
- Under Active Media List, find the audio stream you want to move, and select the Device Picker
.
- Select the box for the device or speaker group where you want playback.
- Select Done.
Any playback moves end about an hour after you stop streaming. If you start streaming again after that time, repeat this procedure to move playback how you want it.
Note: You can move only active audio streams between your devices.
