Fix Issues with Your Scribe Stylus Pen

Pen is unresponsive or writing without touching the screen, button on the Premium Pen is unresponsive.

Note: The use of 3P covers may interfere with some of the screen writing areas. If using a third-party tablet case containing magnets, remove the case and then try the following steps.

If your Scribe Stylus Pen is unresponsive

  • Make sure that you're writing on a content type that supports handwritten strokes, sticky notes, or active canvases
  • Choose another writing tool from the writing toolbar
  • Flip the page forth and back
  • Close and reopen the book or Notebook
  • Close and reopen the sticky note

If your Scribe Stylus Pen is writing without touching the screen or the tip is damaged

  • Replace your stylus pen tip using one of the five replacement tips and the tip replacement tool included with your Kindle Scribe. For a graphic step by step go to Kindle Scribe Pen Replacement Tips.

If your Scribe Premium Pen's button is unresponsive

  • Make sure that the content type where you're trying to use it supports the shortcut function assigned to the button of your Premium Pen. The stylus pen toolbar shows the pen functions.
  • Make sure that the stylus tip is touching the screen while pressing the stylus pen button.
If these steps don't solve your issue, press and hold the Kindle power button to prompt the restart menu and restart the device.
