How to Set Up Your Echo Spot (2024 release)

Device Overview

To start, have the following parts, accessories, and information ready:

  • Your Echo Spot (2024 release) and its included power adapter.
  • Your smartphone, or other internet-ready mobile device.
  • An Amazon account, including your email address or phone number and password.
  • An internet connection, including your Wi-Fi name and password.

Set Up Your Echo Spot

Video guide to set up your device

  1. Plug in your Echo Spot device to an electrical source, using the included power adapter.
  2. Use your phone or mobile device to scan the QR code that appears on the device screen.
  3. Select the link provided by the QR code scan.
    • If you don't have the Alexa app on your mobile device, the QR code link downloads it for you.
    • If you have the Alexa app, the link opens the app on your mobile device, and starts the Echo Spot guided setup.
    Note: If you don't want to use the QR code, open the Alexa app and select Add to set up your device manually.
  4. Follow the instructions in the Alexa app to connect to Wi-Fi and download the latest software update to your Echo Spot.
  5. During setup, be ready to sign in with your Amazon account. Setup might direct you to go online and visit amazon.co.uk/code, and enter a verification code.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your Echo Spot the way you want it.

Privacy and Support

Turn off the Echo Spot device microphones by pressing the Microphone off button on top of the device. The Echo Spot (2024 release) device doesn’t have a camera.

A blue indicator light on the device screen means that Alexa is listening and processing your request in Amazon's secure cloud.

Troubleshoot Setup Issues

If setting up your device doesn't go as expected, try some of these suggestions:

  • Make sure to update your Alexa app to the most recent version.
  • If the Alexa app doesn't prompt you to set up your Echo Spot, select Add in the app to set up your device manually.
  • If you get a login error or have forgotten your Amazon account password, you can reset your password. Go to Forgot Your Password.

  • If you're having issues with your Wi-Fi password, contact your internet service provider.
