Scammers imitate email addresses and communication styles to send what appears as legitimate Amazon emails.
To check whether an e-mail is from Amazon:
- Check Message Centre. Message Centre has all email communication sent by Amazon. If the email doesn't appear in Message Centre, then it wasn't sent by Amazon. Report a Scam now.
- Look for misspellings or added/substituted characters in the sender address. Approved Amazon emails contain 'Amazon.co.uk' and are sent from an Amazon.co.uk address. Common email providers will show the Amazon smile logo icon in their inbox when Amazon is the actual sender.
- Be aware of typos, grammatical errors, or links to websites that resemble Amazon, but aren’t Amazon. Legitimate Amazon websites have a dot '.' before 'Amazon.co.uk' such as https://'something'.Amazon.co.uk.
- Check for invalid links resembling IP addresses. Links to IP addresses such as http://123.456.789.123/Amazon.co.uk are invalid.
