About Dining Reservations with Alexa+
Make reservations at restaurants with Alexa using supported Alexa-enabled devices or the Alexa app.
You can use Alexa to search for and reserve tables with restaurants through supported third-party services. For steps on linking your third-party accounts, managing permissions, or to learn more about the service, go to How Third-Party Services Work with Alexa+.
To start, say something like, "I’d like to book a dinner reservation for two people tonight." Alexa may ask follow up questions to help you finish choosing a restaurant. This could include confirming the type of food you’re looking for, reservation time, and location.
If your preferred restaurant or time isn't available, Alexa suggests alternative restaurants. For restaurants that don’t accept reservations through Alexa, contact information may be provided when available.
Once Alexa has confirmed the basic details, Alexa provides a few recommendations from the linked service. On devices with a screen, Alexa provides details about restaurants such as distance, food type, and ratings. You can interact with the on-screen details to further expand the available information.
As you make a reservation, you can make adjustments, ask for details about the restaurant, save restaurant information for later, and more. Try saying things like:
- "I'd like to change my reservation to four people."
- "What's the rating on this restaurant?"
- "Remember this restaurant for later."
Before making a reservation, Alexa asks permission to share certain profile details with the corresponding third-party reservation service. After confirmation, you'll receive an email from the third-party service, and the event will be automatically added to your calendar.
After creating a reservation, you can ask Alexa to help with things like rescheduling, canceling, or adjusting the party size. The third-party service's terms apply to reservations and may include cancellation fees.
