Fix Issues with Handwriting Recognition on Kindle Scribe
Handwriting conversion currently recognizes cursive, print, and a few emoticons. Make sure that the handwriting recognition language you have selected matches the language in your Notebook.
- Confirm that your device is on the latest software version. If your device is on version 5.16.2 or higher and the option isn’t displayed, restart your device.
- Make sure that your device is connected to the internet.
- If you receive multiple notifications of a sync and convert error, remove the notebook from the device. Redownload the notebook again by tapping on the notebook cover. After successfully redownloading the notebook, try converting the notes again.
- The Convert to text and quick send to [your registered email] option requires an email associated with the account that you used to register your Kindle Scribe. If no email is associated, the Convert to text and email option isn’t available.
- To add an email: Log in to your Amazon account on a web browser. From the Account & Lists drop-down, select Account > Login & Security.
- Confirm that your notebook and notes are in a supported language. A list of currently supported languages is available at our page Convert Handwritten Notes to Text.
- A searchable PDF of your notebook doesn't include any edits made during preview in the Convert to text and email option.
Note: Converting larger synced notebooks (100+ pages) can take over 10 minutes to process.
Note: Currently not supported: writing that’s slanted, writing using the highlighter, writing in landscape mode, drawings, diagrams, and equations.
