Use the Alexa app to update your device's Wi-Fi settings, or connect to a network.
Note: If you have an Echo screen device, update or change the Wi-Fi settings on the device itself. For those instructions, visit
Update the Wi-Fi Settings on Your Echo Show.
- Open the Alexa App
.
- Select Devices
.
- Select your device.
- Select Device Settings
.
- Select Change next to Wi-Fi Network.
- You can then:
- Connect to one of your previously connected Wi-Fi networks.
- Forget a previously connected Wi-Fi network.
- Select Join another Wi-Fi Network to change to a new one.
If you don't see the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to, select Join another Wi-Fi Network. Then follow the instructions in the Alexa app.
Tip: If you have an Echo Spot (2024 release), you can tap the
Wi-Fi Off
icon on the device screen. Then scan the QR code with your mobile device, and select the link to start the Wi-Fi settings process in the Alexa app.

Echo devices connect to Wi-Fi networks used in most homes (Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) networks that use the 802.11a / b / g / n standard). Echo devices can't connect to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) networks.
