Fire TV Blaster Doesn't Control Your Devices

Fire TV Blaster doesn't control your devices or is unresponsive.

Note: Fire TV Blaster can't switch inputs for all TVs or control projectors.
  • Make sure that your Fire TV and Echo device:
    • Have the latest software version.
    • Are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and Amazon account.
    • Are linked in the Alexa app. From the Alexa app Settings , go to TV & Video and then Fire TV.
  • If you have multiple devices, confirm that the correct Fire TV and Echo device are linked in the Alexa app.
Tip: If you're not sure what your devices are named, say, "What's your device name?" to learn the name of your Fire TV and Echo device. Use the Alexa Voice Remote to ask your Fire TV.
  • Update the Alexa app.
  • Set up equipment control for all your devices. From your Fire TV Settings , select Equipment Control. Then select Manage Equipment and turn on equipment control for Fire TV Blaster.
  • Place your Fire TV Blaster within sight of the devices that you want to control. The LED should face where you usually sit.
  • To control devices that are inside a closed cabinet, use the included IR extender cable. Plug the IR extender into your Fire TV Blaster and set it on the same shelf as the device you want to control.
  • If you have multiple TVs in the Alexa app, give each TV a unique name.
  • Unplug the power adapter and then plug it back in to restart your Fire TV Blaster.
