Reset Your Echo Devices with a Screen
If your Echo device is unresponsive, or you want to erase your device settings, factory reset your device. These steps also work with Echo Spot.
Note: Settings menu items for
the Echo Hub and Echo Show 5 (all generations) may vary, and those devices will receive a software update soon.
Before trying a full device reset, try restarting your device first to resolve most common issues. Just unplug the power adapter from the device or the outlet and then plug it back in. If the restart doesn't solve your issue, try the following reset procedure.
You can reset your device to factory defaults using either the device's buttons or the on-screen menu.
Reset with buttons:
- Press and hold the Mute
and Volume Down
buttons until you see the Amazon logo (about 15 seconds).
- When prompted, follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device.
Reset with on-screen menu:
- Say, "Go to settings," or swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings.
- Select Device Options.
- Select About this Device.
- Select Reset to Factory Defaults.
- If you're using an Echo Show (2nd Generation) or Echo Show 10 and want to reset without losing your smart home device connects, select Reset to Factory Defaults but retain Smart Home Device Connections. Otherwise, select Reset.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device.
Tip: If resetting your device isn't helpful or you no longer want to use your device,
Deregister Your Device from your Amazon account. Deregistering your device erases all device settings.
