Turn Follow Up Mode On or Off

You can turn on Follow Up Mode by voice, through your device settings, or in the Alexa app.

To turn Follow Up Mode on or off, say:

  • "Turn on Follow Up Mode."
  • "Turn off Follow Up Mode."

To turn Follow Up Mode on or off from your Echo Show:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select Talking to Alexa, then Follow Up Mode.
  3. Turn Follow Up Mode on or off.

To turn Follow Up Mode on or off from the Alexa app:

  1. Open the Alexa App.
  2. Select Devices .
  3. Select your device.
  4. Select Device Settings .
  5. Scroll down and select Follow Up Mode.
  6. Turn Follow Up Mode on or off.

Some Echo Show devices can use Enhanced Follow Up Mode. Enhanced Follow Up Mode isn’t available on all Echo Show devices.

To be able to use Enhanced Follow Up Mode on your Echo Show, make sure:

  • To turn on Enhanced Follow Up Mode from the Follow Up Mode settings in the Alexa app for the compatible device.
  • The camera shutter is open.
  • The device mute button is off.
  • You're in view of the device's camera and facing the screen.

Enhanced Follow Up Mode is not available during video playback and calling.

Enhanced Follow Up Mode is only available in the U.S. and in English.
