Guide to Speak Selection for Fire Tablet

The Speak Selection feature provides controls to select specific items to be read aloud, or to speak the entire content of the screen on your Fire tablet (FireOS 7 and higher).

You can enable Speak Selection any time from the Settings on your compatible Fire tablet. Within Settings, select Accessibility, then select Speak Selection under the Screen Readers section. The Speak Selection speech bubble icon floats in the corner of the screen.

Tap the floating speech bubble icon to display the Speak Selection control options:

• Tap the Play icon to read the full screen from the top.
• Tap the finger icon or the rectangle icon to toggle between selection modes.
• When the finger icon is visible, tap an item to speak it.
• When the rectangle icon is visible, draw a rectangle to speak containing items.
• When the unlock icon is visible, controls will hide after speech.
• When the lock icon is visible, controls will remain visible after speech.
• Tap the exit icon or the speech button icon to hide controls.
