Connect Your Fire Tablet to a Public Hotspot

Join public hotspot networks in places like coffee shops, hotels, and airports using these steps.

  1. To join a public network:
  2. Connect to the network as normal. See Connect Your Fire Tablet to Internet for more information.
  3. After successfully connecting, wait for a sign-in page to appear. If it doesn’t appear, tap on the connected network and select Sign in.
  4. Follow the instructions on the sign-in page. You may be prompted to enter a username and password, email address, mobile number, or acknowledge terms and conditions.

If you cancel before you log in to the network

When you tap Cancel on the sign-in page, your Fire Tablet will be still connected with the public hotspot but won’t have internet access. A popup message will state: “Network isn’t connected to the internet. Stay connected to this network?”

  • If you choose Yes: the popup screen is dismissed and Auto-Reconnect is turned off for the network since it has no reachable internet. Your Fire Tablet is still connected to the network and you can use the network in other ways.
  • If you choose No: the popup screen is dismissed and your device is disconnected from the network. You return to the Network Settings screen, where you can choose a different network.
Note: You can restart the connection process by turning your wireless internet off and back on, then reconnecting to the network.

After signing in, you should be able to access the internet. Fees and other charges may apply when you use public hotspot networks. If you’re still having trouble accessing the internet, contact the network provider for additional support or information.
