Troubleshoot Liquid Detection Issues on Alexa or Amazon Kids Tablet

The USB-C charging port on your tablet is sensitive to liquid or external interference. For connectivity or interference issues with the USB-C port, an on-screen error message may appear alerting you about the liquid detection.

This information is applicable to Alexa Tablets or Amazon Kids Tablets.

Note:
  • A liquid detection notification appears intermittently as liquid evaporates from the USB-C port.
  • Do not use any other methods or products to dry the USB-C port, as the device can become permanently damaged.
  • Some third-party charging cables may inadvertently trigger a liquid detection notification. Try another compatible charger or use an Amazon’s USB-C charger.
  • Ensure that your device is up to date with the latest software as it may resolve some liquid detection issues.
  • Make sure that the internal port is free of any debris and undamaged (pin not bent).

If the USB-C liquid detection error message appears, follow the steps below:

  1. If you're charging, unplug the cable from the device. Failure to do so can result in permanent damage to the device.
Important: An audio alert or pop-up icon can't be dismissed until you unplug the cable from the device.
  2. Hold the device with USB-C port facing down and gently shake it for about 5 seconds, or until liquid isn't visibly present in the port.
  3. Rest the device on a flat surface to dry completely (for up to 48 hours). If liquid is detected in the port, a liquid icon is displayed on the device screen.

You may continue to use the device but do not charge it. You can only charge your device after the liquid detection icon disappears.
