What Do the Light Indicators on My Echo Screen Mean?
The light bar on your Echo Devices with a Screen to see how the device communicates its status.
Tip: Ask Alexa, "What does your light mean?"
Yellow
What it means:
- A solid yellow bar means that Alexa has a message or notification. Say, "What are my notifications?" or "What are my messages?"

Cyan on Blue
What it means:
- A cyan spotlight on a blue bar means that Alexa is listening. The spotlight moves briefly when Alexa is processing your request.

Teal Blue
What it means:
- A teal blue bar indicates that Alexa is ready for you to speak. This means you can speak directly to Alexa without first saying the wake word.

Red
What it means:
- The red light bar tells you the microphones on/off button
is pressed, and the device microphones and camera are off. Press the button again to turn on the device microphones and camera.

Orange
What it means:
- Your device is trying to connect to the Internet.

Green
What it means:
- The green light bar comes on when you're in a call or a Drop In, and you leave the call screen. It shows that you're still on an active call.

Purple
What it means:
- When the Do Not Disturb feature is on, a purple light bar briefly shows after you make any request. Turn off Do Not Disturb to speak with Alexa again.
