Use Your Kindle E-Reader in Dark Mode

Make text more readable against a different background mode on your compatible Kindle E-Reader.

You can invert the text color on your Kindle to dark mode. The chosen appearance inverts the text, image, and page color on all screens for Black and White devices, such as Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Scribe.

On Kindle Colorsoft, this feature inverts the text and background color on that page.

To switch your Kindle background appearance:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Screen and brightness, and then select Appearance or Color Style.
  3. Select your preferred mode.

Alternatively, slide down from the top of the screen to bring up the toolbar and select Dark Mode or Color Style.
