How to Use the Silk Web Browser on Fire TV

Launch the Silk app on your Fire TV to browse the internet, watch videos, bookmark sites, and more.

To start using Silk, select Apps from the Fire TV home screen and open the Internet app.

You can move your cursor by using the directional pad on your Fire TV remote. Press the center button to select things like icons or text fields.

Tip: You can also use a connected keyboard to navigate the Silk browser. Use the arrows keys to move your cursor and the Enter key to select things on-screen. Press F to fast forward, R to rewind, M to open the menu, and Esc to go back.

There are several options on the Silk navigation bar to help with browsing or to manage your settings. The following table lists common options and their descriptions:

Option Description

Address Bar

Select the address bar to enter a web address or search term using the Fire TV keyboard.

Back

Forward

Use the Back arrow and Forward arrow to go back to a previous page or return to the next page.

Refresh

Refresh your current page.

Menu

Manage Silk browser settings, such as your browsing history and passwords.

Private Browsing

Enter Private Browsing to have any pages you visit removed from your history after you close the private browsing tab. The browser saves any files you download or bookmarks you create.

Note: Your activity might still be visible to your internet service provider or the websites you visit (including websites affiliated with Amazon).

Desktop Sites

Default Sites

Switch between the desktop and mobile layouts for your current page.

Add Bookmark

Add or remove a bookmark on your current page.
