Use the Kindle App on Your Alexa Tablet
Your Alexa Tablet comes with a Kindle reading experience designed for comfortable and distraction-free reading.
Automatic activation:
Open a book in the Kindle app and your tablet automatically adjusts for reading. You’ll see a brief transition and a “Kindle reading active” notification at the bottom of the screen. Once the Kindle mode is active, notifications are silenced, blue light is reduced, and battery usage is optimized for reading.
When you close your book or leave the Kindle app, your Alexa Tablet returns to its standard settings. Your full color display, notifications, and standard battery behavior are restored.
Customize your display:
Go to Settings on your tablet and then select Kindle to switch between three display theme options:
- Standard (default) — Adds warmth while keeping colors vibrant
- Color Paper — Softens tones for a printed-paper feel
- Ink Paper — Shifts to grayscale for focused reading
Manage your settings:
You can turn the Kindle reading experience on or off at any time from this same page.
While reading on Kindle app, all notifications are silenced by default. To allow notifications from specific people or apps, adjust your notification preferences on your tablet Settings > Kindle > Notification filters.
