Using Alexa+ with Amazon Family

How to ensure the best Alexa+ experience on all devices in your Amazon Family.

Note: Not all features and services will be available at once. New features will roll out across compatible devices during the Early Access period. For more information on available features and supported devices go to: Alexa+

You can use Alexa+ as part of an Amazon Family. Alexa+ doesn’t support account switching. So, to help everyone in your household use Alexa+, we recommend adjusting your Amazon Family setup, with one of the following three options.

Upgrade all Amazon Family member accounts to Alexa+.

The best Alexa+ experience on Amazon Family comes when all members of the Family have upgraded to Alexa+. We recommend that all adult Family members accept the upgrade invitation from their individual Amazon accounts.

Consolidate devices under one Amazon account with Alexa+.

Alternatively, consolidating your Alexa devices under a single Amazon account can improve the Family Alexa+ experience. Pick one account in your Family to be the primary, then upgrade that account to Alexa+, and register all the devices under that account.

Tip: To reduce setup later, make the primary account the one with the most devices, smart home setups, routines, or group spaces already established.

To consolidate the shared devices under the primary account:

  1. Reset each device to factory settings. Learn how to Reset Your Echo Device.
  2. Set up each device with the guided on-screen or Alexa app instructions.
Important: Sign in and register each device with your chosen primary Amazon account.
  3. Create a profile in the primary account for each household member. You can say, "Create a Profile," or use the Alexa App.

Create or build an Amazon Family around an account with Alexa+.

Once you've upgraded to Alexa+, add adult members of your household, who live at the same address, to your Amazon Family. Everyone can share Alexa+ benefits, while keeping their individual accounts. Learn how to Create Your Amazon Family.
