Use Gaming Features on Your Fire TV Smart TV
Improve your gaming experience on Fire TV Smart TV by using Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).
Note: VRR and ALLM aren't available under all Fire TV Smart TVs. To check if VRR and ALLM are available on your Fire TV Smart TV:
- Go to Settings
on your Fire TV device.
- Select Picture.
- Select Input Settings.
- Select Game.
VRR and ALLM work with compatible gaming devices to enhance your gaming experience.
- VRR: Allows your TV to synchronize its refresh rate with your gaming device for smoother viewing. This reduces stutter and screen tearing, giving you a more fluid visual experience. Depending on the device, VRR supports up to 144 Hz.
Note: Higher refresh rates depend on your game and the output settings of your connected gaming device.
- ALLM: Allows your gaming device to switch your TV automatically to its low-lag game mode, giving you a more responsive gaming experience.
VRR and ALLM features are activated by default for supported HDMI inputs. If you notice screen tearing, stuttering, or increased input lag while gaming, ensure that Game mode, VRR, and ALLM are activated:
- Turn on your gaming device.
- Switch to the appropriate HDMI input on your Fire TV.
Note: For compatible Fire TV Smart TVs, use HDMI 1 or 2 to activate the 120 Hz or 144 Hz refresh rate at 4K or UHD resolution.
- Press and hold the Home button
on your Fire TV remote to open the Quick Settings.
- Select Picture.
- Select Picture Mode.
- Select Game.
- Select Input Settings.
- Select HDMI.
- Select Input Mode.
- Select Auto or Gaming.
- Select Game.
- Make sure VRR and ALLM are set to ON.
- Select HDMI.
- Select Picture Mode.
Note: If issue persists, check that your gaming console's VRR and ALLM settings are also properly configured.
