How to Install Apps from Play Store on a Child Profile
Install apps from Play Store on your Amazon Kids Tablet.
Note: The Google Play Store is separate from the Amazon Kids+ Store. Apps installed from the Play Store are managed through Google Family Link parental controls, while Amazon Kids+ content is managed through the Parent Dashboard.
Turn on Play Store access on your child profile
- On the child profile, open Play Store app.
- Enter Parent Passcode when prompted.
- Sign-in with your (parent) Google account credentials.
- Select an existing Google child account linked to your family group. If no child account exists, select the option to create one and follow the on-screen prompts.
- Grant supervision permissions to the child account. This connects the device to Google Family Link parental controls, enabling the parent to manage the child's Play Store experience remotely.
- Choose whether to enable Google backup services (photos, videos, contacts, apps, and text messages).
- Set up parental controls and choose age-appropriate apps and content for the child.
- Optionally, you can configure screen time rules through Google Family Link or skip to configure later.
- Once setup is complete, your child can browse and search for apps in the Play Store from their profile.
Manage App Installation on Play Store:
When a child tries to install an app, on-screen prompts to ask a parent through a message or in person:
- Send a request message:
- Your child sends a remote request for your approval.
- You receive a notification to your Google account.
- You approve or deny remotely.
- Ask in Person: You enter your Google account password on the child's device to approve.
Note: If prompted, you can choose Always allow to let your child download Play Store apps without requiring approval each time. Only enable this if you're comfortable with your child installing apps independently.
