Troubleshoot Fingerprint ID on Alexa Tablet

What to do if your fingerprint ID feature stops working on Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Alexa Tablet 11, or Amazon Kids Tablet 11.

Note: Fingerprint is only available on Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Alexa Tablet 11, or Amazon Kids Tablet 11.

If you're having trouble using fingerprint access:

  1. Press the Power button and swipe up on the screen.
  2. Check which profile the tablet is on. If it's not yours, ask the profile owner to sign in and switch profiles.
  3. Once you switch the profile, try to unlock device using your Fingerprint.
  4. If doesn't work, try to scan a few more times as the small variations in position can affect the Fingerprint recognition.
Note: After several failed fingerprint attempts, your tablet will require your PIN, Password, or Pattern automatically.

If your Fingerprint still isn't working, try the following steps:

  1. Enter your Screen lock PIN, Password, or Pattern instead.
  2. If recognition is consistently poor, delete the fingerprint and add it again.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Select Security & Privacy.
  5. Select Fingerprint Unlock.
  6. Enter your PIN or Password again.
  7. Tap the trash can icon to delete existing fingerprints.
  8. Tap the + button to recreate your fingerprint.
