How Can I Hide the Echo Hub Power Cable?

Tips to help put excess power cable out of sight.

Install your Echo Hub anywhere an electrical outlet is nearby. There are a few ideas to help hide the power cable between the device and the power outlet.

  • Hide extra cable in the wall mount cavity on the back of the device. Loop the excess cable and press it gently into the notches on the back of the device. Leave enough cable length to reach the power outlet after mounting the device.
  • Use a shorter USB-C cable. The Echo Hub works with most USB-C cables, as long as they allow sufficient power to the device. If you find a shorter cable compatible with Echo Hub power requirements, you can use it.
  • Use on-wall cable management, such as cord hiders. Use hiders when you don't want to make holes in your wall. Many come in different lengths, and are paintable.
  • Use in-wall cable pass-throughs, or grommets. Pass-throughs allow easy routing of the power cable behind the wall. Many come with a saw or drill bit that creates the correct size hole. Install one behind the Hub mounting bracket, and the other near the power outlet. Follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.
Tip: The Hub's mounting bracket matches the size of most standard in-wall electric boxes. If an installed electric box is convenient, you can use it as one of the cable pass-through points.
  • Use a Power Over Ethernet (PoE) port. If your home has Ethernet wiring, which supports PoE+ or PoE++, you can use a PoE port instead of the Hub power cable. This connection also requires a PoE switch or a PoE injector.
