Customize Your Kindle E-Reader Text Display
Adjust the appearance of books and periodicals on Kindle E-Readers 6th Generation and higher.
To access text display settings when reading:
- Tap the top of the screen to bring up the toolbars.
- Select the Page Display icon Aa.
The menu tabs offer a range of reading personalization settings to customize your book display. Your preferences apply to all the books that you read on your Kindle.
Display Settings may vary across Kindle device models.
Tap the Font tab to:
- Select from a list of available fonts. The Publisher Font option is available on books that have a font embedded by the publisher.
- Increase or decrease the font size by dragging your finger along the slider or tapping the plus or minus signs.
You can also change the font size while reading by using a pinching motion.
- Make any font bold and adjust between five levels of bold. Set your preference by dragging your finger along the slider or tapping the plus or minus signs.
Tap the Layout tab to:
- Adjust the spacing between lines, paragraphs, words, and.characters.
- Increase or decrease the margin size.
- Select portrait or landscape screen orientation for reading.
- Change text alignment. Options include justified and left justified.
Tap the More tab to:
- Select your preferred reading progress tracking option.
- Select whether to show the clock while reading.
Tap the Themes tab to:
- Switch the page background color.
- Select your preferred theme settings.
- Save your current settings for Font, Layout, and More options.
Your Kindle also applies kerning, refines layout for large fonts, and automatically improves line spacing for faster, easier reading across all fonts.
