Maintaining Your Fire TV Stick

Do not use your Fire TV Stick or Alexa Voice Remote (collectively referred to as "device" or "devices") near sinks or other wet locations. Take care not to spill any food or liquid on your devices and do not put any object filled with a liquid, such as a vase, on or near your devices. If your Fire TV Stick does get wet, carefully unplug all cables without getting your hands wet and wait for the device to dry completely before plugging it in again. If your Alexa Voice Remote does get wet, use rubber gloves to remove the batteries and wait for the remote to dry completely before re-inserting the batteries. Do not attempt to dry your devices with an external heat source, such as a microwave oven or hair dryer. Do not drop, throw, disassemble, crush, bend, puncture or paint your Alexa Voice Remote.

Only handle your devices with clean hands. Clean your devices only with a soft cloth that is slightly damp with water and a touch of rubbing alcohol, be careful not to wipe it with anything abrasive or to use any harsh chemicals. Do not expose your devices to steam, extreme heat or cold. For example, do not install your device near any heat sources such as space heaters, heater vents, radiators, stoves or other things that produce heat. Store devices in a cool, dust-free area out of direct sunlight.

Use of third-party accessories may impact your devices' performance. In limited circumstances, use of third-party accessories may void your devices' limited warranty. In addition, use of incompatible third-party accessories may lead to damage to device or the accessory. Read all safety instructions for any accessories before using with your Fire TV Stick.

Your Fire TV Stick does not have an on/off button. If you wish to stop power from flowing into your Fire TV Stick, unplug the power adaptor. Only use the included power adaptor with your device. Do not force the power adaptor into an electrical socket. If the power adaptor or cable appears damaged, discontinue use immediately. Do not plug multiple electric devices into the same wall socket. Overloading a socket can cause it to overheat and may result in a fire.

Your device may get hot during normal use. If you find the Fire TV Stick has become hot to the touch, unplug it from the power supply and let it cool down for a few minutes before handling.

exclamation alert iconBattery Safety

This product contains alkaline batteries. The remote for your Fire TV Stick requires batteries for use. Only use new 1.5 V alkaline or 1.2 NiMH rechargeable AAA batteries. Never mix old and new batteries. Keep all of the batteries out of reach of children. Do not open, disassemble, puncture, cut, bend, shred or heat the batteries and do not allow metal objects to touch the battery terminals on the remote as they can become hot and cause burns. Remove all batteries if they are worn out or before storing your remote for an extended period of time. Dispose of all batteries in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and do not dispose of batteries by throwing them into a fire. If any batteries begin to leak, take steps to prevent the fluid from coming into direct contact with skin or clothes as the fluid could be corrosive and may be toxic. Remove the batteries and clean the battery compartment in accordance with the battery manufacturer's recommendations.

Other Safety Considerations

  • A small percentage of people may be susceptible to blackouts or seizures (even if they have never had one before) when exposed to flashing lights or light patterns, such as when watching videos or playing games. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts or have a family history of such occurrences, you should consult a doctor before watching videos or playing games.

To reduce risk of these symptoms avoid prolonged use, watch your television from afar and in a well-lit room, and take frequent breaks.
  • Handle your device and its accessories with care. Your device and its accessories may have pointed edges that can lead to scratches, cuts or other physical injury.
  • Do not touch your Fire TV Stick or any wires connected to your Fire TV Stick during a lightning storm.
  • Small parts contained in your device and its accessories may present a choking hazard to small children.
  • The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that television should be avoided for infants and children under 2 years of age.
  • Your device is dispatched with an AC adaptor. Your device should only be powered using the AC adaptor and USB cable included with the device.
  • Do not expose adaptor or cable to liquids.
  • If the adaptor or cable appears damaged, discontinue use immediately.

  • Install your power adaptor into an easily accessible socket-outlet located near the equipment that will be plugged into or powered by the adaptor.

Using Your Fire TV Stick and Alexa Voice Remote Around Other Electronic Devices

The Fire TV Stick and Alexa Voice Remote generate, use and can radiate radio frequency (RF) energy and, if not used in accordance with its instructions, may cause interference to radio communications and electronic equipment. External RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating systems, entertainment systems and personal medical devices. While most modern electronic equipment is shielded from external RF signals, if in doubt, check with the manufacturer.
