How Do Household Accounts Work on Alexa Devices?
You can share content and access Alexa-enabled devices when using Amazon Households.
When you link two adult Amazon accounts using Amazon Households, you can share eligible content on compatible Alexa devices. You can also access certain Alexa-enabled devices and other devices registered to accounts in the Household.
To switch Household profiles on Alexa and access that user's content, say "Switch account."
When you add an adult Amazon account to your Amazon Household:
- You're authorizing the use of the payment methods associated with your Amazon account.
- Your Amazon Photos are viewable on Echo devices with a screen.
- Devices in your household may receive notifications for more than one linked Amazon Household member. This may include notifications Received from Linked Accounts of other household members on a device registered to you or notifications meant for you that are Sent to Linked Accounts on a device registered to another household member. You can turn off these notifications from the Alexa App by going to Settings > Notifications > Notifications Preferences and turning off either Received from Linked Accounts or Send to Linked Accounts.
- You're able to make and receive Alexa calls and messages on compatible devices for all linked accounts in your Amazon Household.
- Alexa Profiles are associated with the Amazon account that you created them on.
- All the adults in your Amazon Household will share Amazon Shopping Lists.
Note: Households aren’t managed within the Alexa App. To learn more, visit
