Get Your Fire Tablet to Charge

Try the following steps to get your device to charge.

Make sure that your environment isn't too hot or too cold (tablets are sensitive to extreme temperatures).

Depending on your charging cable speed, your device may need 30 minutes to charge before it will display the battery charging icon and power on. Ensure that the cable is plugged in all the way and leave the device plugged in for at least 30 minutes. Press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds to turn on the device.

  1. Disconnect your device from charging equipment, such as the power adapter and cable. If you're using a wireless charging dock or mat, remove the tablet.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 40 seconds or until your device restarts.
  3. Reconnect your device to charge; plug in the cable to the power adapter and your device, then plug the adapter into an outlet.
Note: Be sure you're using a compatible power adapter with your tablet. Check the Technical Details section of the product detail page for power adapter requirements.

If the device is still not powering on, try putting device in recovery mode to reboot device:

  • For most devices: Press and hold the "power" and "volume down" buttons simultaneously for five seconds.
  • For Kindle Fire HDX (3rd Generation), Fire (4th Generation), or Fire HD 10 (7th Generation) devices: Press and hold the "power" and "volume up" buttons simultaneously. Release the buttons immediately after a logo appears.

If your tablet still isn't charging, you may be eligible for a warranty replacement.
