Turn Ultrasound Motion Detection Off or On
Press the Mute button on your Echo device, or use the Alexa app to turn off motion detection.
Echo devices with Motion Detection capabilities use ultrasound to detect motion. The devices only emit ultrasound after you've enabled a feature that requires motion detection, such as Occupancy Routines.
To turn off motion detection without disabling those features, press the Mute button on your Echo device. Turn off Mute to resume motion detection activity and features.
To turn off motion detection functionality fully on your device, use the Alexa app.
- Open the Alexa app
. - Select Devices
. - Select the individual device that you want.
- Select Device Settings
. - Select Ultrasound Motion detection.
- Switch Ultrasound Motion Detection to Off.
To turn it back on, select it again and switch it to On.
Note: If you turn off ultrasound motion detection on the device, features that use motion detection don't function as intended.
