Deregister Your Kindle E-Reader

If you no longer wish to use your Kindle E-reader, you can remove your Amazon account from the device.

To deregister, use the Deregister button after selecting your device on this page:

Note: Before gifting or selling your device, we recommend a Factory Reset to remove all content and user settings from the device. Visit our page Factory Reset Your Kindle E-Reader for instructions.
  1. From the home screen, swipe down to open the Quick Actions or select Menu.
  2. Select Settings or All Settings.
  3. Go to Your/My Account and select Deregister/Deregister Device.
  4. If prompted, select Deregister again to confirm.
