Streaming Prime Video's United Kingdom Catalog from European Union Countries

Following the United Kingdom's departure from the European Union, customers traveling to the European Union will no longer be able to access the full United Kingdom Prime Video catalogue while traveling.

What's Changing?

From 1 January 2021, the United Kingdom leaving the European Union means a change to the applicability of the European Union regulation on cross-border portability of online content services. This means that customers traveling to the European Union will no longer be able to access the full United Kingdom Prime Video catalogue while traveling. This change affects lots of online services, not just Prime Video.

If you’re only traveling and will be returning to the United Kingdom, you don’t need to take any action; while outside of the United Kingdom, you’ll have access to a limited catalogue featuring select Amazon Originals such as The Boys and Utopia and will resume access to your full United Kingdom catalogue when you return to the United Kingdom. You can see the full list of available titles to watch abroad at www.amazon.co.uk/watchabroad. You can also download a selection of TV shows and movies while still in the United Kingdom and watch these when you travel.

What If I Am in the UK?

The most common reasons for not seeing the UK catalogue when accessing Prime Video in the UK are:

  • Your IP address isn’t registered in the UK.
  • You’re using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or similar proxy that masks your IP address or routes your internet traffic through, for example, Germany or Ireland. This is common among laptops connected to business networks.

What Can I Do?

  • You can disable your VPN or proxy service and clear your browsers cache after disabling it.
  • If you’ve recently been supplied with a newly created or sourced IP address, it may not have been registered correctly or may take a few weeks to update. Please check with your broadband provider.

I’ve Relocated - How Can I Access the Catalogue in the Country I Am in?

If you have relocated from the UK to another country and wish to access content available in that country, you can update your home location by contacting Customer Service and continue streaming from PrimeVideo.com or, if based in Germany or Austria, from amazon.de/video . To learn more about streaming from Prime Video, visit the Prime Video help pages on Amazon.co.uk or on PrimeVideo.com .

I’ve Relocated – Can I Still Watch Live Sports, like the Premier League, Available to UK Customers?

No, live sports for United Kingdom customers can only be accessed when you’re in the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.)
