Cast Music Using Alexa-enabled Devices

Amazon Music can be cast to an Alexa-enabled Device, excluding Fire TVs, using the Amazon Music app.

Before you begin casting, make sure your device meets these requirements:

  • Device has an Internet connection.
  • Device is connected to a power source.
  • Device must be registered to the same Amazon account as the Amazon Music app being used.
  • If the Alexa-enabled device is a third-party speaker (for example: Sonos, Bose), make sure that the appropriate Alexa skill is enabled from the Alexa companion app.

Note: To cast purchased or uploaded music with the Amazon Music app, you need to have a Prime Music or an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription.

On iOS devices, to start casting from the Home Screen:

  1. Select the Menu icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Select Connect to a Device.
  3. Choose the device to which you would like to cast your music.

On iOS devices, to start casting from the Now Playing View:

  1. Select the Casting icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Choose the device to which you would like to cast your music.

On Android devices, to start casting from both the Home Screen and Now Playing View:

  1. Select the Casting icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Choose the device to which you would like to cast your music.

Note: When casting music playback to a device, the streaming quality settings on that device are respected.

To stop casting:

  1. Select the Casting icon from the Now Playing menu or top navigation bar.
  2. Select Disconnect across from the active casting device.
