Turn On Captioning on Your Echo Devices with a Screen
You can use Closed Captioning or Alexa Captioning on your Echo Device with a Screen when available. Just say, "Turn on all captions."
Note: Settings menu items for
the Echo Hub and Echo Show 5 (all generations) may vary, and those devices will receive a software update soon.
To turn on captions on your Alexa App or Echo Show:
- Say, "Go to settings," or swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Captioning.
- Check the boxes for the captioning settings you want to enable:
- All Captioning: Turns on all captioning options
- Alexa Captioning: Turns on captioning for Alexa's responses
- Closed Captioning: Tuns on captioning for video playback
- Alexa Captioning: Turns on captioning for Alexa's responses
Note:
- Not all of Alexa's responses support Alexa Captioning.
- If you turn on both Alexa Captioning and Closed Captioning, only Closed Captioning appears when watching videos.
- Captioning preferences including font style and size can be managed in Settings > Accessibility > Captioning > Captioning Preferences.
