Learn about ordering a recycling service for your old appliance when buying a new heavy or bulky item.

How to Order the Recycling Service

Heavy or bulky items weigh over 23 kg or have any side longer than 175 cm. When you order one on Amazon, you can often book an eco-friendly disposal service for the appliance you're replacing.

If your item is eligible, an Appliance Haul Away option appears on the product detail page and at checkout.

  1. Select the Appliance Haul Away option and add the product to your basket.
  2. At checkout, a blue dot marks any service you pre-selected on the product detail page. It also shows available time slots for your service.
  3. On the Delivery & Payment page, select the delivery and service address. Make sure that the phone number for the delivery address is up to date in Your Addresses. The courier may contact you to confirm the appointment.
  4. Choose your preferred date and time by clicking Change date and time. Only change the date for your selected service. Selecting a different one might remove your appliance collection service from the basket.
  5. Review your order details.
  6. Click Place your order.

Service Not Available?

Sometimes the Appliance Haul Away option doesn't appear on the product detail or checkout pages. This can happen if:

  • The service isn't available in your area.
  • The item is out of stock.

Important:
  • This service is free of charge.
  • You can only select this service when ordering a new item. You can't add it after the item is dispatched.
  • This service only applies to items dispatched directly by Amazon.
  • Amazon can only recycle items of the same category and kind as your new product. For example, you can't recycle a refrigerator when ordering a washing machine.
  • The old item shouldn't deviate significantly from the new product in weight and dimension.
  • The courier collects and recycles your old item at the same address you selected for delivery. You can't schedule the recycling at a different address.
  • Your old appliance must fit through the main access points of your property. If it doesn't, the courier won't collect it during your new appliance delivery. Check the product size information on the product detail page before ordering.
  • Once the courier picks up your old item, you can't get it back.

Eligibility Restrictions

  • Items containing dangerous or hazardous materials aren't eligible for this service.
  • The courier may refuse the pick-up if the item is dangerous or hazardous.

Prepare Your Appliance for Pick-up

  • Disconnect the appliance from water supply and electricity at least 12 hours before the pick-up.
  • Defrost refrigerators and freezers.
  • Drain washing machines of any water (including the water supply hose and the lint filter).
  • Disassemble fitted appliances so they're freely accessible.
