Replace the Batteries in Your Fire TV Remote

Open the back cover of the remote to insert or replace batteries.

Note: Some models have a latch instead.
For models without a latch:
  1. Turn over the remote and put one thumb on the arrow at the bottom of the battery cover.
  2. Put your other thumb at the top of the remote above the battery cover.
  3. Hold the top of the remote tightly. Push down the battery cover by applying pressure with the thumb that's on the bottom of the battery cover.
  4. Slide the door down halfway and roll off the cover from the remote battery casing.
  5. Insert new AAA alkaline batteries and slide the cover up until you hear a click to close the cover.

For models with a latch:

  1. Press directly on the arrow icon to release the latch; and the battery compartment opens.
  2. Turn over the remote and put one thumb on the arrow indicator at the top of the battery cover.
  3. Hold the remote firmly. Push down the battery cover by applying pressure with the thumb on the arrow indicator that's on top of the battery cover.
  4. Slide the door down halfway and roll off the cover from the remote battery casing.
  5. Insert new AAA alkaline batteries and slide the cover up until you hear a click to close the cover.
