Resolve Liquid Detection Issues on Your Kindle E-Reader
USB-C ports on Kindle devices are sensitive to liquid. If moisture is detected in the port, an alert is displayed on-screen and you’re temporarily not allowed to charge your device with the USB-C cable. You can still use your device when moisture is detected.
Note:
- A moisture detection notification appears intermittently as liquid evaporates from the USB-C port.
- Don’t use any other methods or products to dry the USB-C port, as the device can become permanently damaged.
- Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition can still be charged using the supported wireless charging dock.
- If you're charging, unplug the cable from the device.
Failure to do so can result in permanent damage.
- Hold the device with the port facing down. Gently shake it for about 5 seconds, or until there’s no more liquid in the port.
- Rest the device on a flat surface to dry completely (for up to 48 hours).
After the alert icon disappears, you can charge your device with USB-C cable again.
